Visa sponsorship jobs in Sweden

Sweden has no sponsor licence system. Employers advertise the role, meet collective-agreement pay and insurance conditions, and the Migration Agency assesses your application — so sponsorship depends on the offer terms rather than any pre-approval. The board is rechecked every morning.

The employer must offer terms at least equal to Swedish collective agreements and provide the required insurances. Certified employers can access a faster processing track.

Why nothing on this page carries a verified badge

Sweden publishes no list of employers approved to hire from abroad, so there is nothing to check a company against. That is not an oversight on our part and not a gap we can engineer around — the data does not exist in public form.

We had a choice about what to do with that, and we made it deliberately. We could infer sponsorship from soft signals — a company that hires internationally elsewhere, an advert mentioning relocation, a multinational with offices in several countries. All of those are guesses dressed as facts, and a job seeker who spends a fortnight on an application because of a guess has been badly served. So a Sweden role appears here only when the advert itself states that sponsorship is available, and it is labelled as the employer’s own claim rather than anything verified.

That bar is high, and most days nothing clears it. An empty page here is the system working as intended, not a fault.

What to do instead

• Ask early, in writing. One line in your first message: “Is this role open to candidates who need work authorisation in Sweden?” A no costs you nothing at that stage and saves you weeks.
• Prefer employers with a track record. Large multinationals and companies whose teams are visibly international have done it before and have the internal process for it.
• Watch for the disqualifiers. Adverts requiring existing work authorisation, security clearance or residency are a firm no, whatever else they say.

The order this actually happens in

Almost everyone gets this order wrong in the same way — they try to sort out the visa first. In every country on this board, including Sweden, the job offer comes before the immigration process. There is nothing to apply for until an employer wants to hire you.

1. Find roles you are genuinely qualified for. International hiring adds cost and delay for the employer, so the bar is higher, not lower. A borderline application that would get an interview locally often will not here.
2. Tailor the application to the advert. Your CV has to clear an applicant tracking system before a person sees it, and a generic CV filtered out at that stage never reaches the conversation about sponsorship at all.
3. Raise work authorisation early and plainly. Not in the first line of your cover letter, but well before a final round. Employers dislike discovering it late far more than they dislike the fact itself.
4. Get the offer.
5. Then the permit application begins, usually with the employer applying on the strength of that specific offer. In Sweden the authorisation is tied to the job and to you, not to a licence the company holds in advance — which means an employer with no history of hiring internationally can still do it, and an employer with plenty of history still has to do it again for you.
6. Then you move. Do not resign, sign a lease or book anything until the authorisation is actually granted.
